The District is committed to encouraging efficient water use. Programs, incentives, and informational assistance are offered to customers to help you implement water conserving measures at your home or place of business. In addition, visitors to our office can tour our Waterwise and Fire-safe Demonstration Garden and obtain free educational materials to help them in their conservation efforts.

Municipal Water District of Orange County

The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) is a member of the  Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MET), which supplies imported water to six Southern California counties.

As a MET member, MWDOC represents the interests of its 29 Orange County member agencies. MWDOC is a recognized leader in its water use efficiency programs. Through an innovative, multi-agency approach, MWDOC has formed partnerships with other federal, state and local agencies to create award-winning water use efficiency programs that target all water users - residents, businesses and industrial customers.

California's Water Crisis

Despite intense media attention and focus by the Governor and legislators, the public is largely unaware of the state’s water problems. The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), a coalition of 450 public water agencies, has launched a statewide effort, entitled “California’s Water: A Crisis We Can’t Ignore,” to educate Californians about critical challenges now confronting the state’s water supply and delivery system.
